DESCRIPTION:The Folks on Spokes Ride/Step Forward Memorial Walk is on Sunday\, September 15th at Fowler Field in Milford. Funds raised will support Bridges Healthcare’s addiction and mental health services for people in our community on the road to recovery.Cyclists of all levels can bike 5\, 10\, 20 or 40 mile routes (or any combination of these) to promote mental health and wellness. The rest stops along the route offer water\, fruit and snack bars. All riders must wear a bicycle helmet and follow safe cycling practices throughout their ride. \nWalkers can enjoy a 5K route on the scenic Connecticut coastline while honoring the tragic end to lives lost to addiction\, overdose\, suicide or other mental health related issues. The reading will take place at various locations around Milford – our small city with big heart with 45 minute breaks in between each act so that you can enjoy a discounted snack at one of several shops in town. \nFeaturing a cast of dignitaries and notable community members: \nSenator James Maroney\nMayor Ben Blake\nAlderman Frank Smith\nAlderman Dan German\nDan Brownwell & the UCC Choir \nThis experience is like nothing else you will ever enjoy! \nWe’ll meet at the gazebo on the green at 1pm. Executive Producer\, Nancy Herman has arranged to have each act directed by a different Eastbound Theatre director. Ann Baker will direct Act One on the Green\, Mike Chavel will direct Act Two on the veranda in front of the Parsons Building overlooking the waterfall at \, and Tom Rushen will direct Act Three behind the DAR in the cemetery. \nEach act is 45 minutes long with 45 minute breaks in between. Bring a lawn chair and water bottle. \nCome before 1pm and enjoy a nice lunch on the green or restaurant and stay after the reading for a reception at Stonebridge at 5pm! \nBe present\, be joyful\, and learn how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life with us for the day…maybe even beyond.

SUMMARY:MAC Annual Sand Sculpture Competition
DESCRIPTION:MAC’s 42nd Annual Sand Sculpture Contest will be held once again at Walnut Beach\, Milford\, CT \nMilford Arts and Milford Bank proudly sponsor a fun-filled beach event with music by WEBE108fm. Bring a picnic\, your beach blanket\, pails and shovels\, and create anything from huge lobsters to mermaids. Awards to be given in various categories including Clubs/Friends\, Families\, and Individuals. All ages are welcome. \nThis annual event draws over 50 sand sculptors and hundreds of spectators each year. Join the crowd and enjoy a day of sculpting in the sun – or just come and observe as the sand sculptures come to life! Registration begins at 10 am with judging at 2:30 pm and awards given approximately 3:30 pm.  *Times may vary a bit depending on the tide. Low tide that day occurs at 1:11 pm and we encourage media outlets to join us around 11:00 am. \nNEW! We ask that you consider bringing a cash donation this year so that we can continue bringing you this popular event and other quality artistic experiences throughout the year. We will be collecting donations and making a community beach sculpture with the cash throughout the day. A few 5 and 10 minute poses will be next.
