DESCRIPTION:Discover Milford CT in collaboration with the City of Milford will launch its first annual PorchFest on September 28\, 2019 from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM. PorchFest is an annual music event held across the country on front porches. The movement started in Ithaca\, New York in 2007\, to bring local musicians and neighborhoods together to celebrate and create a sense of community. \nBands\, singers\, and instrumentalists of all genres are encouraged to sign up and participate in the event. Signs with artists’ names and performance times will be posted in front of porches and online. \nA digital map will be continuously updated for location information. DESCRIPTION:Come draw from a live model! \nMeets the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month \nSessions begin with short\, athletic poses of 1 or 2 minutes to get everyone warmed up. A few 5 and 10 minute poses will be next. The remainder of the session will be 20 minute poses. \nArtists need to bring their own materials: charcoal\, pens\, watercolors\, gouache\, pencils\, and newsprint or sketch pads. Chairs and tables are provided but no easels. Artists may bring a collapsable or French easel. SUMMARY:Folks on Spokes Ride/Step Forward Memorial Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Folks on Spokes Ride/Step Forward Memorial Walk is on Sunday\, September 15th at Fowler Field in Milford. Funds raised will support Bridges Healthcare’s addiction and mental health services for people in our community on the road to recovery.Cyclists of all levels can bike 5\, 10\, 20 or 40 mile routes (or any combination of these) to promote mental health and wellness. The rest stops along the route offer water\, fruit and snack bars. All riders must wear a bicycle helmet and follow safe cycling practices throughout their ride. \nWalkers can enjoy a 5K route on the scenic Connecticut coastline while honoring the tragic end to lives lost to addiction\, overdose\, suicide or other mental health related issues. The Remembrance Ceremony kicks off the Walk to support survivors and to pay tribute to lost loved ones. \nRegistration includes official event T-shirt for those pre-registered by August 31 and post-race food and drinks. \nGo to folksonspokes.bridgesct.org to register.
